Meet Nicole

I grew up in a multigenerational home where time with my grandparents was built into everyday life. Card games on Saturday nights, their friends around the table, a kid underfoot soaking it all in. That experience shaped everything I believe about what a community can be. Generations in the same room, learning from each other, and looking out for each other.

My own children have had an extraordinary relationship with their great grandparents, and I have seen firsthand how much both generations gain when they share the same space.

I was born in North Dakota and moved around over the years, meeting my husband Desmond in Massachusetts, where I graduated high school. I have spent the last 15 years working in wholesale grocery while raising our two children.

Ten years ago, we chose Apple Valley as the place to put down roots and raise our family, and it was one of the best decisions we ever made.

I have volunteered with youth basketball, soccer and softball through VAA, and spent the last decade watching my two kids, now in 6th and 11th grade, grow up on these fields and in these parks.

Since moving to Apple Valley, I have organized our neighborhood’s Night to Unite every year. Watching neighbors get to know one another and build relationships has shown me just how much stronger a community becomes when people feel connected.

As my involvement grew, I became Vice Chair of SD56, District Five, giving me the opportunity to work more closely with community members and local leaders while learning more about how civic engagement translates into public service.

When the parks referendum was on the ballot, I helped bring our neighbors together to understand the process and make their voices heard. That experience showed me how much this community values its shared spaces and how powerful it is when residents actually participate in the decisions that shape their city. It is what convinced me to run for City Council.

I am running because I believe this city’s greatest strength is its people, and the next step is making sure every one of them, at every stage of life, feels connected to the community around them.
